About China Town of Somerset
China Town of Somerset is a chinese restaurant in Troy, Michigan. It is listed at Troy, MI 48084, which places it among the local businesses of Troy that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
In cities with a Chinatown, weekend mornings bring dim sum carts or order sheets, and lines form early at the most popular spots in Troy; walk-ins are standard and reservations are uncommon outside large banquet restaurants. Regional labels matter: Cantonese, Sichuan, Hunan, Shanghainese and Taiwanese kitchens cook very differently, so a restaurant's stated region is a better guide to the food than the word "Chinese" alone. Some smaller restaurants in Michigan are BYOB with no corkage fee; call ahead to confirm. A tip of 15-20% is customary for table service but not expected at counter-order takeout. Spice level, MSG and allergen questions are normal to ask before ordering, and most kitchens are happy to leave an ingredient out or tone down the heat if you mention it when ordering rather than after the food arrives.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 am–7 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach China Town of Somerset at (248) 816-9190; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions.
Its Google rating stands at 2.5 out of 5 from 152 reviews, which is below average for the category; consider the recent reviews carefully before visiting.
Troy is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Troy follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

be careful what ends up going onto the food, could’ve been an accident when making the chicken, a piece of metal found inside my food i felt a hard piece when i took a bite and pulled this out.

I had a very disappointing experience at China Town. The customer service was rude from the moment I walked in, and it felt like the staff couldn’t care less about helping customers. The food wasn’t worth the price—it was bland, seemed like it had been sitting out for a while, and wasn’t served fresh. On top of that, the restaurant didn’t feel very clean, which made the experience even worse. I won’t be returning, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone expecting good food or decent service.

We frequent the China Town location in Orlando and have always enjoyed it, so we make a point of stopping at this location whenever we're in the Detroit area. It has become one of our favorite places to grab a quick meal when visiting Somerset Collection. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and served quickly. Our absolute favorites are the honey chicken and the egg rolls. The honey chicken is always crispy with just the right amount of sweetness, and the egg rolls are hot, crunchy, and packed with flavor. We've ordered them on multiple visits and have never been disappointed. The staff is efficient, and the portions are generous for the price. We appreciate that the quality and taste have remained consistent from visit to visit, which is one of the reasons we continue coming back whenever we're in the area. As a bonus, we enjoy the atmosphere of the Somerset Collection food court. It's a pleasant place to sit and enjoy a meal during a day of shopping. China Town is definitely worth a visit when you’re shopping at the mall. We look forward to stopping by again.

I love Chinese food, so when I saw this place, I wanted to go. I always go to a Chinese place in a mall everywhere I go. This by far is the worst experience I've had. When I walked up, there was an elderly couple in line and they wanted lo mien. They were out of lo mien, so the couple were waiting, and they were rudely told to move out of the way over and over, even though they were moving. After that, I got orange chicken and fried rice. It was just terrible. There was no flavor whatsoever. The only reason the atmosphere was good is because the mall was nice.

Usually pretty good and this time the chicken had been sitting a while I guess because it was a bit cold - noodles are Pretty good usually and rice is hit or miss. One thing that’s consistent is the ladies that work there are RARELY ever smiling or even close to friendly- would be cool if they at least acted friendly.
